Square Enix hired a loremaster for Kingdom Hearts IV

In the same Famitsu post-D23 interview where he talked about fewer but denser worlds, Tetsuya Nomura admitted the plot had outgrown what you can explain in a meeting. With the new anime bringing more outside teams into the fold, the studio gave one person a formal job: keep the lore straight.

That person came from the χ [chi] team. He had already been charting past Kingdom Hearts stories in diagrams for Disney, and at Disney's request he joined the Kingdom Hearts IV team early on as a proofreader. Nomura described him as well-liked at the meetings precisely because he draws the connections out instead of reciting them.

The role is not co-writing. He reads the KH4 script against older material and flags where a line breaks established lore. Nomura said the χ series is deeply involved in KH4 anyway, so pulling someone who lived in that timeline made sense. The detail is from Famitsu's August 27 interview (09:00 JST), with the same conversation including the Vali and Sigurd ties to Union χ.

It is a small, very on-brand fix for a series famous for its twists. If you are coming in cold before KH4, χ is the thread to follow.
