Disney: Kingdom Hearts is a $1 billion franchise

Disney has put a number on Kingdom Hearts at last. In How Games Are Helping Shape Disney's Next Chapter, published August 13, the company counts the series among nine games franchises in its portfolio to have grossed over $1 billion at retail.

Sean Shoptaw - Disney, August 2026

Shoptaw, Disney's EVP of Global Games and Digital Entertainment, named Kingdom Hearts alongside Marvel Strike Force, noting more than half of the nine emerged in the last 12 years. Disney did not break out a per-game figure for the series itself.

The same post frames the scale around it: Disney Games has driven an estimated $3.5 billion in consumer spend a year for four years, crossing $4 billion this past fiscal year. The timing was pointed, landing a day before the D23 Kingdom Hearts panel that previewed KH4 and the Disney+ series.
