Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 lands native Switch 1 port as early reports point to 60fps
Original Switch owners were not left out of launch week after all. TheGamer reports that Square Enix released a native Switch 1 port of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX alongside the October 8 Switch 2 Collection (in what TheGamer describes as a surprise release), so the six-game compilation runs on the older hardware with no streaming involved. The port has its own Nintendo store listing for Switch, separate from the Switch 2 versions.
Early word on performance is strong, with the usual caution that it comes from players rather than Square Enix. TheGamer cites player reports that everything from the original Kingdom Hearts through Birth by Sleep runs at 60fps with speedy load times and no notable issues next to other consoles. GamingTrend corroborates the shape of the release, noting that only KH 1.5+2.5 made it to Switch 1 while the full Collection is also on Switch 2 and PS5.
That makes the older games the easy recommendation on Nintendo hardware: the full three-app Collection needs an estimated 131GB on Switch 2, as covered in the file-size breakdown, while Switch 1 players get the four playable games plus the two remastered cutscene compilations natively. Only Kingdom Hearts III and 2.8 stay exclusive to the newer systems in this rollout, which followed the June announcement of the October 8 launch.
